How this all started....
Nearly 2 years ago I was knee deep in the middle of wedding planning. As every bride will tell you, wedding plans tend to take over your life (and often the lives of those nearest and dearest to you). So many options! So, how in a wedding world of choices could I not find a single invitation I liked, you ask? Good question! Great question in fact. I looked, but it was not anywhere to be found.
I must have looked at 100's of websites, catalogs, and design ideas. The problem was, I always liked a part of this one and something from that but never found everything in one invitation! So, as with many aspects of my wedding, I decided I was going to make my own.
Once I started playing around with design ideas, I was hooked! I made a couple of options for my pocketed wedding invitations and in the next several days I had actual samples; designed, printed, and in hand. My pocketed invitations were complete with RSVP post card, reception card (with accommodation information on the back), and directions cards all tied up in a pretty red satin bow.
Well, why stop there? My new found creative outlet was way too much fun. From there I branched out to create a whole selection of wedding stationery.
I made:
- bridal shower thank you cards
- place cards
- table cards
- thank you cards for wedding gifts
- informational layered cards for my wedding party with phone numbers, addresses, & schedules - out of town guest layered cards with wedding weekend activities & important contact information
- "Thank you for being my Bridesmaid" cards
- "Thank you for being my Groomsmen" cards
- "Thank you for being my Ring Bearer" cards
- "Thank you for being my Flower Girl" cards
and on and on....
I was pretty happy with the results of my effort. With lots of help from my soon-to-be hubby, my mom, and my bridesmaids we cranked out almost 175 wedding invitations in one (long) evening!
Shortly after mailing the invitations, I started getting feedback from my guests. They were all surprised I had made them and had all kinds of questions. I was so thrilled. They didn't just look at them and toss them aside, many kept them and showed their friends!
Fast forward about 2 years.... Recently a friend of a friend called me out of the blue with wedding invitation questions. My friend had shown her my invitation and she was interested in having me make hers! I had occasionally thought about doing more with my "hobby" because I enjoyed it so much and look what happened.
Fine Prints is born!
